How to Use a Second Cell Phone As a Switch

You can use a second cell phone as a switch if you want to use a different provider. This can come in handy if you are traveling abroad or moving and you still have a contract obligation to stay with your current provider. You can switch to a second cell phone network by simply unlocking your cell phone so that it is compatible with any SIM card, and as a result, can be used with SIM cards provided by other cell phone service providers.

Instructions

1. Go to a website that provides unlocking codes, such as Unlocking or The Travel Insider. (See Resources.) These websites hold a database of unlocking codes for your cell phone, but it does come for a small fee. The fee is worth it in the long run because once your phone is unlocked, it will work with any cell phone network.

2. Go to your cell phone and obtain the IMEI number, which is your phone's unique identification number. This is needed to obtain your lock code. Enter "*#06#" on the keypad to get the IMEI number.

3.Go to your website service and enter the phone make and model, then click "Unlock Now."

4.Click "Unlock Now." This will bring you to a form page. Fill out the form, including your name, phone number, email and IMEI number, and click "Continue." Enter your credit card details to pay the small fee, and click "Continue."

5.Check your email for the unlock code and instructions.

6.Go to your phone and press "Power" to turn it off. Remove the SIM card by sliding off the battery door and removing the battery from the compartment. Slide the SIM card out and insert the new SIM card. Replace the battery and cover.

7. Press "Power" to power on the cell phone. It will indicate that the SIM card is incompatible. Enter the unlock code and wait for the cell phone to indicate that the SIM is now compatible or the cell phone is unlocked. Now you are free to use it with another network.

How to Remotely Open a Car With a Cell Phone

Forgetting your car keys inside the vehicle can be stressful and take a hit on your wallet if you end up needing a locksmith to open the door. If you have a spare key remote opener and someone else can access it, you can use your cell phone's speaker to remotely open your car's door; however, this won't work with average RKE (remote keyless entry) openers because the signal they transmit is not the same as the signal cell phones transmit. Ultimately, trying with your specific RKE opener will determine if you can accomplish this with your car.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

* Spare key remote opener

1.Call the person that has access to your spare car remote opener using your cell phone.

2. Set your phone to "Speaker" mode by pressing or tapping the "Speaker option."

3. Ask the person to place the spare car remote opener close to the phone's speaker.

4. Place your phone beside your car's door handle with the speaker facing your door. Ask the person with the spare car door opener to press the "Open" button while having it as close as possible to the phone's speaker. The car will then be unlocked. You may have to try to place your cell phone in different areas of your car's door handle before it opens your door remotely because the receiver's location varies depending on the type of car. The key opener should be less than a foot from the car's door handle.

How To Track a Cell Phone - GPS Tracking, Reverse Lookup

There are several reasons why you might want to track a cell phone. You may want to keep track of your kids for their own safety. You may want to track your phone if it should be stolen, using cell phone GPS tracking. Or you may have some nefarious reason for tracking someone using his or her phone. Whatever your reason, there are several options now available for tracking a cell phone. Follow these tips and you should be able to actively track a phone in less than an hour.

If your goal wasn't to monitor a cell phone but rather to figure out who's been calling you, trace the cell phone number back to them with the National Registry of Cellular Numbers (NRCN).

Materials:
Cell phone
Computer
Internet connection

1. Access the cell phone. In order to do the following steps, including loading software or installing a physical GPS chip, you will need access to the phone.
2. Load tracking software to the phone. If you are tracking your own cell phone because it was stolen, or you want to keep track of your kid’s location, consider a tracking program. There are several options of cell phone tracker, including Wherify and uLocate that allow users to download software from the Internet to the cell phone.
3. Install a GPS tracking to the cell phone. GPS chips come in varieties so small, often smaller than a dime, which can be inserted in the back of the phone while the user isn’t paying attention. Once the chip is inserted, it can be powered by the cell phone and is virtually undetectable. Signals can be monitored through a program on your PC. Check out this article for more guidance on how to install GPS tracking devices in cell phones. GPS tracking equipment is becoming amazingly inconspicuous.

How To Block Your Cell Phone Number from Caller ID

There might be many reasons why you want to block your cell phone number from showing up on other people's caller IDs. Whatever the reason is, it's very simple to block your cell phone number. You have two options: you can permanently block your phone number or you can block your number on a call by call basis. There's no need for an expensive cell phone blocker or other cell phone blocking devices - this is an easy, affordable process.

If you're trying to figure out who's calling you from an unlisted cell phone, check out Reverse Phone Detective.

Blocking Your Cell Phone Number Permanently:

The most permanent solution is to request a "line block" from your cell phone carrier.

1. To do this you simply need to call the customer service for your specific provider and they can block your number. When you do this your number will never show up to anyone.
2. To call your wireless customer service to block your cell phone number, just dial 611 from your cell phone and you will reach them.
3. If there is a situation where you want your number to show up, you will still have an option. When you have a permanent block on your cell phone number you will need to dial *82 before dialing the number you are calling. When you do this your phone number will show up just once for that specific call. Ex: *82 (555) 555-5555.

How to Track a Cell Phone & Show the Exact Location

Tracking a cell phone can help recover a lost or stolen device. It can also help the user find his location when traveling or keep track of a family member or loved one. A phone owner can track a cellular phone using a global positioning satellite, or GPS, chip. The chips are already installed in many newer phones and can be bought and installed in older phones. A variety of services are available for tracking the phone, and many cell phone companies offer GPS locating in-house.

1

Obtain a cell phone with a GPS chip. Most newer cell phones, including the BlackBerry, Motorola iDEN, Boost Mobile, Windows Mobile and many others, already contain GPS chips.

Some phones, especially older phones, do not have the chips installed. Find out from the manufacturer if the phone will take a GPS chip. If so, the chips can be bought at cell phone stores, from the manufacturer or over the Internet. Install according to the manufacturer's instructions.
2

Check with the cell phone service company to determine if its network has GPS capability. Most larger services, such as Verizon, Cingular/AT&T and Sprint/Nextel, provide the service. Disney Mobile is designed to allow child cell-phone tracking through GPS.
3

Find a location-based service, such as AccuTracking or uLocate.com, which often works with the cell phone service companies. Independent services such as Mologogo and others are also available. These services may charge small or moderate fees for GPS tracking.
4

Use the computer to go to the location-based service provider's website. Log in and follow instructions to subscribe and to download its software to the computer. Use the computer-phone cable to connect the cell phone to be tracked to the computer. Follow the instructions to load the GPS-tracking software from the computer into the cell phone, and, if necessary, to activate it using the phone's menu.
5

Give the phone to the user and use the computer to log onto the location-based service provider's tracking website. Depending on the service, it can show the phone's location on a Google or MapQuest grid. Some services can also tell at what speed the phone is traveling, how long it has been in one position and even the altitude. Some services will send a text message to another cell phone if the tracked phone leaves a pre-determined area.
If the tracker has a cell phone with wireless Internet access, she may be able to use that instead of a PC to track the phone.

How to Put Videos on an iPod Touch

The iPod Touch is an impressive piece of hardware that allows you to listen to music, play video games and watch videos. Although getting videos onto this device may seem like a daunting task at first, there are only a few simple steps involved. If you can put music on your iPod Touch, then putting videos is just as easy.

1
Find legal videos. There are three main sources for legal videos licensed for use on iPods and other digital devices: the iTunes store (where you can download them directly), digital copies on traditional DVDs and your own personal collection.
2
Move your videos to iTunes. If the videos were downloaded directly from the iTunes store, skip this step as it has been done for you. If this is not the case, you will need to put all of the videos in a single folder (it is most convenient to put this folder on the desktop.) Once all your videos are together, open iTunes and select the "Add file to iTunes" command to import the videos from your folder to the iTunes program.
3
Convert to MPEG-4. videos, Popular video formats like AVI and WMV will need to be converted using the MPEG-4 format using the iTunes program before they will be compatible with your iPod Touch. Simply select the videos you need to convert with a single click. Then right-click to pull up the iTunes sub-menu. From there click once on the convert option to begin the process. You can also drag the files into the iTunes conversion queue, which is on the right side of iTunes.
4
Sync the videos with your iPod Touch. Simply plug your iPod Touch into your computer's USB port and wait for iTunes to recognize it. Then drag the video files you wish to have on your device over the iPod icon. The icon will change to a "syncing" status, and you will need to wait a few minutes for the process to complete. You can now eject the iPod and watch your videos on the go.

How to Sync an iPod Without Deleting the Music

If your computer has crashed, if you've purchased a new computer or if you're plugging your iPod into your friend's computer, the iPod will be synced with a different version of iTunes than what was used to add music to that iPod. When this occurs, all the music on that particular iPod will automatically be deleted. This can be an annoyance regardless of how many songs are on the iPod. But by using My Computer together with iTunes, you can sync an iPod without deleting the music on the iPod.

1
Begin by clicking "Start" on the task bar and then opening "My Computer." Click "Tools." Select "Folder Options." Then click the "View" tab. Scroll down the list in the middle of the window until you come upon "Show hidden files and folders." Click on this option, then click "OK." Keep My Computer open.
2
Plug the iPod you wish to sync into the computer. Open iTunes.
3
Click the icon for your iPod located on the left side of iTunes. A box may appear asking if you wish to sync the iPod. Exit this box without clicking "Yes," or the music on the iPod will be deleted.
4
Click on the "Enable disk use" option at the bottom of the iTunes screen.
5
Go back to My Computer. You should see the name of your iPod and an icon for the device located under "Devices with Removable Storage."
6
Double-click the iPod icon in My Computer.
7
Open the "iPod_Control" folder, then open the Music folder.
8
Highlight and select each of the folders found in the Music folder. Then copy each of these folders.
9
Paste all of the folders you copied from the previous step to your desktop. You can then minimize the My Computer window.
10
Click "File" in iTunes. Choose "Add Folder to Library." Select one of the folders you pasted onto the desktop. The songs in that folder will then be added to the iTunes library. Do this for every folder you pasted onto the desktop.
11
Disconnect the iPod from the computer. Wait about 10 seconds, then reconnect the iPod. If the message asking whether you wish to sync the iPod appears again, click "Yes" to sync the iPod. Otherwise, proceed to the next step.
12
Click "File." Select "Sync iPod." The iPod will then sync without any music being deleted from the device.

How to Set Up Bluetooth on an iPhone

How to Send a Rose Text Message

Text messaging is rapidly taking the place of regular phone calls. As you adapt and become acquainted with the function of texting, there are more things you can do with it. Instead of sending pictures or videos, you can create a romantic or sweet text by fashioning a custom rose using symbols built into your phone.

1
Open up a new text message on your phone. Text out the actual message first if you want to save the rose for last. If not, leave the phone on a blank message so that you can create the rose.
2

Decide which way you want to the rose to go. The tip towards the right may be easier to tell that it is a rose, but both ways work. The rest of the steps will go from right to left, so just follow the directions in reverse order if you want to text the rose another way.
3

Text out two dash symbols like this "--". Make sure that there are no spaces between the dashes and also make sure that you are not accidentally using an underscore symbol.
4

Type a pointer symbol with the tip of symbol pointing to the left like this: "<". If you do it in the opposite direction, the rose may look awkward and not be recognizable.
5

Type two more dashes, "--". Add another pointer symbol, "<", followed by two more dashes, "--".
6

Finish the rose off by adding an "at" symbol to the top of. The final rose should look like this: --<--<--@ .
7

Mix up the order of the stems to create longer or more distinct-looking roses. Try them in the opposite direction or repeat the steps to create a bouquet of roses within the text message.

How to Block Phone Numbers on an Apple iPhone

Receiving annoying or unwanted phone calls is something that every cell phone owner has to deal with. If you own an iPhone, however, you do not have to deal with these calls if you upload a program called iBlacklist. While this application works only on jailbroken (that is, your iPhone is free to download any application) iPhones, many people have this application because it allows them the ability to ignore annoying and unwanted calls.

1
Make sure the data connection on the iPhone is turned on. This means that regardless of whether the phone is connected to a Wi-Fi, EDGE or 3G network, it must be connected to at least one of these three. If it is not, it will not be able to complete the steps required to download iBlacklist (see link in Resources).
2
Look for the Cydia application on the iPhone and press the icon with your finger. This icon is often kept somewhere close to the first application page because it is needed to download jailbroken applications.
3
Wait a few moments until Cydia completely loads. After it loads, locate and click on the "Sections" link on the page. After this is clicked on, a new page will open.
4
On the scrollable list on the new page, scroll down until reaching the selection that says "Utilities." Select it by pressing on it. On the next page, scroll down to the letter "i." There you will be able to find the iBlacklist package.
5
Select "iBlacklist" and install it. After it has installed, click on the new "iBlacklist" icon on your phone.
6
When the application opens, click on "blacklist." Then enter the number(s) you want to block and press "Enter." You no longer will receive calls from the numbers you have blocked.
