f you get a phone call from a number you don't recognize and you want to check to find out who the phone's owner is, you can use free reverse phone sites online. These sites are sometimes maintained by private companies, and sometimes they are created by phone users who are just trying to help each other out. The sites all work the same way in general, allowing you to enter a phone number to check and get a location.

Instructions

1.Click "Start," "Internet Explorer." Navigate to a reverse phone site such as Phone411, Callcatalog, or Reversephone.
2. Enter the phone number you want to research, beginning with the area code, so that you end up with the full 10 digits.
3. Press "Enter" key to search the database. Some sites will require a small fee to check for additional information beyond the general location.
