How To Remove a Fake-Alert Virus

A fake alert virus generates wrong scan results, telling you that your computer is severely infected and prompting you to buy the advertised anti-virus programs. In many cases, it is also used by an unauthorized person to monitor your computer activities and gain access to your files. A fake virus alert is dangerous to have in your computer. Because it is a Trojan virus by nature, this has to be immediately removed before it makes a solid footing in your system. Here’s how.

* Search for and erase the fake virus alert. You can do this by going to the Start menu. Click Search to launch the Search window. On the “What do you want to search for?” pane, click “All files and folders.” Then type a Trojan Fake Alert file such as bridge.dll, pynix.dll, udpmod.dll, rpnqrdnm.exe, and tcpservice2.exe.
* Choose “Local Hard Drives” under the “Look in” heading. Click Search. The search process will take a while, especially if you have several files in your system. If the Trojan Fake Alert file you typed shows up in the result list, immediately delete it.
* Delete the registry keys. Remember to do this only if you are comfortable working on commands. If not, have someone with advance computer knowledge do this. Begin by clicking “Start.” On the left pane, select “Run.” Then type “regedit” in the box. Click “OK.” When the Registry Editor window appears, click “Edit,” and then “Find.” Type a Trojan Fake Alert registry key. If the registry key shows up, right-click on it. Select “Modify” and then “Delete.” Remember to create a back-up for your registry keys before performing the deletion.
* Remove DLLs. Again, click “Start.” Select “Run” and type “cmd” in the field. Click “OK.” Then type “cd” and hit the space bar to change your directory. Type the directory of a Trojan dll. If a dll shows up, enter “regsvr32/u and the name of the dll. For example, if pynix.dll appears, you need to type “regsvr32/u pynix.dll.” Hit Enter.
* Abort Trojan processes through the Task Manager. To do this, you need to go to “Start” and then click “Run.” Enter taskmgr.exe in the field. On the “Processes” tab, enter a Trojan process, examples of which are users32.exe, susp.exe, and rpnqrdnm.exe. When the processes show up, right-click on them. Select “End Process.”
* Run your anti-virus software. Immediately make a full scan on your computer if you suspect a fake Trojan alert has entered your system. When a Trojan virus is detected, permanently delete it from your computer. Keep in mind that fake virus alerts are consistently updated, making them more aggressive and harder to remove. As such, you must always have the latest anti-virus software in your system.
* Install anti-spyware program. Aside from anti-virus software, anti-spyware also helps in safeguarding your computer from malicious spyware and deletes it once it occurs. Again, run a full scan to detect the spyware. When it appears in the search results, delete it immediately.

Remember to always keep your security programs updated. You can go to the manufacturer’s website to get the latest updates. They require a fee of course.
