* Download an antivirus. First of all, you need to download an antivirus. There are free and paid antivirus programs. Generally, paid antivirus programs have more features, but most of the free versions work equally well. The key is to choose your antivirus program based on the quality of the software vendor. Some of the best manufacturers that you should be on the lookout for are Avast, AVG, and Avira. Simply go their website and click the download button for the free versions, or the paid versions if you are willing to spend a couple of dollars for the software.
* Install. Once you have clicked on the download button, the antivirus application installer should automatically download. Simply wait for the download to finish. Remember, the application can take anywhere from a couple of seconds to a couple of minutes to download, depending on your Internet connection speed. After it has downloaded, simply right click the file and then click “run.” this will install the program into your computer. Follow the installation wizard that comes with the antivirus installer.
