How To Track Links in Google Analytics

In today’s world, one does not have to be trapped within the four-walls of a corporate office to be successful. Thanks to the wonders of Internet, many people have found their fortune by simply logging in and creating a virtual world. Others attribute it to sheer luck, dedication and patience while majority of them are grateful for tools that cut most of the work for them. Web bloggers and website owners are probably familiar with Google Analytics more than most people. It is because Google Analytics is an essential tool that helps them keep track the number of visits their particular website gets.

Do you currently run a website? Or, do you have a blog and you want to know how it fares? If so, then why don’t you try tracking links via Google Analytics? As mentioned above, it is a tool that you can use to help see how many “hits” your links get so that you will be aware on what actions to take to make your site even more successful. Read on to find out how.

* Start system. Turn the power on and start your system. Once done, connect to the Internet.
* Update Google Analytics. In order for the procedure below work, you must update the version of your Google Analytics. For this, simply go online and visit its website and download an updated version. Once done, you may run and install as usual. It is also best to reboot your system to make sure it has been properly installed.
* Choose links. Start by pulling up your website and reviewing the links you have included in it. You may have added a ton of them so go through each link carefully. Although links made via your website’s internal folio are automatically trailed, those that are outside will require a Java Script code in order for you to check on them.
* Script links. Once you have established which links to track, pull up your webpage software for editing purposes and highlight the link or links you have chosen. One by one, add a Java Script to your links by keying in A HREF on each tag. You can modify it further by selecting which location the report should use.
* Save work. Finish tagging and modifying each chosen link and save the file. You may now successfully upload it to your site.
* Track links. Start tracking links right away. Visit your link everyday and check Google Analytics from time to time. You should have an idea on what links your visitors prefer and what links need more improvement. It is best to add links that are catchy that way they can capture your viewers’ interests immediately.

Congratulations on your website! Remember that it is not just for links, you can track events as well so Google Analytics is truly beneficial for you. For this, just visit its website and register a profile for your website. It is that simple and easy so save yourself from manually tracking everything and let Google Analytics take care of all your tracking needs! Good luck!
