How To Use Avast Virus Cleaner

Avast is one of the most popular antivirus programs in the world today. Some of the reasons behind its success are the fact that it is very efficient in detecting viruses, Trojans, and malware has an easy-to-use interface and even has a home edition that is absolutely free. If you want to use the Avast virus cleaner, you can download one of the Avast AV suites. Here’s how.

* Choose. First of all, you will need to choose which program you want to install in your computer. At present, there are several types of programs available. There is the free home edition, the business edition, and the server edition. These have varying types of protections, but all are very good antivirus programs. If you are a home user, stick to the free Avast edition. You can find all of these in the Avast website.
* Download and install. After choosing which program you like from the home page, simply click on the download button. After clicking on the download button, the download will start. The file is relatively small, and will finish downloading in a couple of minutes. After downloading, right click the file from your desktop or download folder, and then choose the ‘Run’ function after you right click on the file. This will initiate the installation wizard. Follow the instructions from the installation wizard for installing your program.
* Scan. After installation, you can open the Avast interface by clicking on the icon on the desktop or on the startup button. On the screen, you will find the Scan Computer option on the left panel. Click on the type of scan that you want to initiate, such as a Quick Scan, a Full System Scan, a Folder scan, and many more. Or, you can go to the My Computer folder and then right click the drive, folder, or file that you want to scan.
* Virus chest. After the scan has finished, a dialog box will pop up on the screen, telling you about the viruses that the program has caught. You have the option of deleting, quarantining, or healing the infected files.
* Modify settings. If you want to change the settings for scanning your computer, or if you want to change the virus scanner sensitivity levels, you can go to the interface and then click on the shields whose settings you want to edit. Simply click on the Expert Settings button and then change the settings for that particular shield.
* Boot time scan. Finally, you can also run a boot time scan. One of the best things about a boot time scan is that it scans the entire computer system, including all files and drives, before your memory has finished booting. If you have root kit viruses, it will be caught before the virus has time to disappear into the system memory.

With these steps in mind, you should be able to use an Avast program as a virus cleaner. With Avast installed in your computer and running in the background, however, running manual scans is usually not necessary. The only scan you really need to run is an initial scan upon installation, to make sure that your system is clean.
