How To Use Trend Micro RUBotted

Computers are extremely vulnerable to external threats. Malicious code or more commonly referred to, as malware is the general word used in reference to any software that can deem your computer damaged. You’ve heard about these types of malicious codes – virus, worm, bot, and Trojan horses are authored to cause damages to computers and networks.

* Bots. While all types of malware are dangerous, the bot is one of the most problematic of all. Bots attack without your knowledge. Bots act as artificially intelligent software that attacks other computers. The main purpose of bots is to attack websites. Have you ever received e-mail on your mailbox that is sent by someone you know but contains garbage? Chances are, a bot infects your friend’s computer. Bots are different to detect, as they are “intelligent” enough to hide themselves.
* Counter attack against bot invasion. If you notice any odd activities in your computer, you should act fast before the invaders successfully damage your files. Run a full scan for anti-virus so that your computer can detect any infection. Several anti-virus software is available in the market; get a copy and install it on your computer.
* Trend Micro RUBotted. Trend Micro is a well-known manufacturer of software that protects computers and networks from any invasion. Trend Micro offers free downloadable software that can check your computer for any malicious invasion. Get a copy of RUBotted from Trend Micro’s website, free.antivirus.com. Before you download the software, make sure that your computer meets the requirements to run RUBotted. The anti-virus can run on Windows XP, Vista or 7, all requiring installation of newest versions of Windows service pack. You also need to check if your computer is running on 32-bit. Once all the requirements are met, download away!
* Successful download. Make sure that your computer is connected to a stable Internet connection before you hit the download button. Once you are successful, launch the program. You can start the program by clicking on the downloaded icon. Alternatively, you can run the RUBotted by selecting it among your list of programs. All the programs in your computer can be found by accessing the ‘Start’ button at the lower left corner of your desktop.
* Scan report. It is interesting to wait for the generated report of the scan. While the wait can leave you all stressed out, you might find bot invasion even if you haven’t noticed them. The presence of bot or any other form of malware is indicated by an ‘X’ mark. Unfortunately, RUBotted will not automatically remove the invasion. You will need to use your own anti-virus software to remove the infection. RUBotted simply scans and detects, it doesn’t perform the dirty work.

Make it a habit to regularly scan your computer for presence of any malware. If you are a heavy user of the Internet and you haven’t been cautious in downloading files, you’re making your computer extremely vulnerable to attacks. Transferring files via external drives such as USB thumb drives can also cause viruses to transfer. Run a scan on external devices before you open the device. Successful virus attacks can cause severe damage to your computer, including a complete crash that can erase all your data.
