How To Create Next Chapter Links in Blogger

Blogging has become so huge that more and more people are following the trend and creating blogs of their own. There are quite a number of host sites were people can sign up and create their own page for the blogs. Some people write their blogs daily or update their blogs several times a week. Some create blogs that they update monthly. The content of the blogs is dependent on the blog owners. They may chronicle daily happenings, commentaries, share their ideas, provide helpful information, book summaries, movie reviews, technical support and other topics blog owners care to share with the rest of the world. While some blogs are random and depend on what’s new and current, other blogs are presented as a continuing series of interrelated topics like a mini-story, a serial or a short novel that is published regularly.

Blogger is a blog site created by Google where account holders can create their own blog page for free. With a Google Mail account you can already access Blogger if you want and set it up to create your own free homepage and publish your blogs or mini articles. To be able to direct your readers to the next chapter of your series, here are the steps.

* Sign in to your Blogger account. From your dashboard click on New Post and wait for a new page to open where you can create the first chapter of your series. This page has a text editor so you can apply some editing features like changing font styles, size and color. You can also make it bold, italicized and underscored.
* When you come to the end of the chapter you can add a little note like “Next”, “Go to Chapter 2” and so on. This should be included as part of your blog. Preview your blog and make the necessary corrections and editing. You have the option to add images or videos to your post. When you are satisfied with your first chapter exit the preview mode and go back to your chapter.
* Highlight the word you have typed after your chapter ending that will lead the reader to the next chapter of your post. From the menu of top of the page look for the icon that has an image of a globe superimposed with two chain links. This is called the Link button. You can also use the keyboard shortcut by pressing Ctrl+Shift+A to select the link button.
* A pop-up window will prompt you to provide the URL or web address of this particular chapter. Copy the web address that is shown in the browser window or type it in the prompt box. The web address should be something like this - http://yourblogpagename.blogger.com/
* Click the publish button and your first chapter with its link to the next chapter will be published. You still have the option to edit your blog and republish it. Follow the same procedure for your succeeding chapters. Each time you have a new chapter down you will have a new web address to link to.

That is how you create the next chapter links in Blogger. Do not forget the hypertext protocol or http followed by a colon and two forward slashes to ensure that the links will work. You can also follow the same procedure when you want to link to another website while you are creating your next chapter.
