How To Transfer Firefox History and Saved Passwords to a New Computer

Getting a new computer is fun. With a new computer, you usually have better specs and a more powerful computer. One of the problems with a new computer, however, is that you will need to alter the settings of your computer to fit your needs. One of the tweaks that you will usually have to do is to transfer the history and the saved passwords from your web browser to your new computer. This way, you will be able to browse the web easily. If you have Firefox, here are some easy steps to buckling up your Firefox history and passwords and then transferring them.

* MozBackUp. First of all, you will need an application called MozBackup. This is free and can easily be downloaded from the web. To download it, simply open your web browser and do a Google search for MozBackUp.
* Install. After you have finished downloading MozBackUp, you will need to run it on the old computer that you have. To do this, simply double click the installer that you have downloaded. The installation wizard will then pop up on the screen, and all you need to do is to follow the instructions on the screen so that you will be able to install the application in your computer.
* Backup a Profile. After you have finished installing the program, click on the icon on the desktop or find the program in the programs list in the start menu. Once the program has opened, you will need to select the button that is labeled as Backup a Profile. This will create a backup of the saved passwords in your Firefox browser, as well as the history that has been embedded in your Firefox web browser. Once the backup profile has been created, you will be able to use it to transfer the settings and your profile to another computer. This will help transfer your history and your saved passwords.
* Location. After clicking on the Backup Profile button, you will be asked to provide a location for the backup file that will be created. Make sure that you choose a convenient and easy to remember location, such as your desktop.
* Password protection. After choosing the location, you will also need to determine whether you want the backup file to be protected with a passwords or not. If you choose to have password protection in your backup file, type it in. Click next and the backup process will initiate. After the backup has been finished, you should be able to find the file in the location that you have chosen.
* Install and copy. Next, you will need to open your new computer and then install the MozBackup application in it. After installing, you will need to copy the backup file you have made from the older computer.
* Restore profile. With the copy of the backup file in your new computer, all you need to do is to launch the backup program and then click on Restore Profile. Choose the backup file as the profile that you want to restore. This will automatically transfer your history and your passwords to your new computer.


By transferring your Firefox history and passwords, you will be able to enjoy browsing the web as easily as you had with your old computer.
