How To Use your Twitter Account to Donate to Charity

Twitter is a social networking site where you can follow tweets of everyone from your friends, family, co-workers and even celebrities. There you can post anything under the sun. There is no limit to what you can “tweet” – that’s a “post” in Facebook. Charities abound in Twitter and you can donate even without giving out your own money. Twollars is a soft currency in Twitter, meaning it has no real value until businesses match the Twollars to become hard currency that will be donated to charities. Not only will you get updated with your followers’ tweets, but also you get to extend your helping hand to those charities that help needy people. Read on to learn more about how to use Twollars in your Twitter account to donate to charity.

* Set up a Twitter account. If you are new to tweeting, you must first create your own account to donate to charities that are advertising in Twitter. Simply register and you can start doing your charity donations. Having and maintaining a Twitter account is absolutely free. If you already have one, you only have to log in to your account and search for your preferred charities.
* Browse for charities that are on Twitter. On the right side of your account’s home page, click on the Browse Interests tab and options will be laid out on you like Music, Books, Fashion, Charity, etc. Click on the Charity tab. Suggestions for charities will be listed. Choose as many as you want and click Follow on each charity.
* Start tweeting using your Twollars. For users who want to use Twollars, you will be given fifty Twollars that you can donate to charities. Make a tweet indicating how many Twollars you want to donate to your chosen charity. Indicate the name of the charity on your tweet.

* The system will tally the Twollars donated. The administrators of Twollars will then tally the donations on each charity and the total amount of Twollars donated by you and other users will be matched by businesses that will donate hard currency. You do not need to give out cash to donate. The businesses will do it for you. All you have to do is to support the charities so they will be the ones given donations to.
* You can donate all fifty Twollars on a single charity. Or better yet, you can divide the fifty Twollars to all the charities you want to donate to. You can also share your Twollars with other Twitter users and they donate them to their chosen charities. But they cannot cash in their Twollars if they are not legitimate non-profit organizations. Only legit non-profit organizations can cash in the donation. They get the donations through PayPal.

When deciding on which charity or charities to donate to, it is advisable to check each charity’s background first. This way you can be sure that the charity is legitimate and not a scam. The Internet is a place where scammers abound, and they will do anything to take advantage of good souls like you who donate to charity. To be sure, donate only to charities that have already built a reputation for them, like the Make-A-Wish Foundation and other legitimate charities.
